Father Of 4 Went To Target For Last-Minute Christmas Gifts And Never Came Home

Tyrone Griffin loved Christmas, but now the holidays will be a time of mourning for his family. Griffin was doing some last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve with two of his kids at a Bay Area Target when an argument led to him being stabbed to death by two men.

According to a witness, Griffin asked the suspects to turn down some “provocative” music they were playing on a cell phone in the store’s toy section. An argument ensued and the suspects allegedly stabbed Griffin, who later died at an area hospital.

The witness said the suspects “didn’t take it too well” when Griffin asked them to turn the music down.

“It was someone playing provocative music and he just asked them, ‘can you turn it down, my son is right here,'” the witness said. “The guy didn’t take it too well. I’m not sure exactly what was said, but they rushed him.”

The suspects were identified as 22 year-old Frankie Archuleta and 25 year-old Jesse Archuleta. Both are from Hayward, Calif., the town where the Target is located. They were both arrested a short time later and now face murder charges. Police are reviewing the store’s surveillance video and talking to witnesses.

“They’re out of their mind to actually take action like that,” said Timothy Griffin, the victim’s brother. “Who does that?”

Griffin’s wife, Nicole Simmons, said that her husband “was more excited about the kids opening gifts than they were” and that “that last minute gift, you know — that cost my husband his life. He felt like Jade had more gifts than Josh… ‘I gotta get Josh one more thing.'”

And now Simmons is a widow, and her children will grow up without their father — and remember his tragic death during what was always the happiest time of the year. Telling her children that their father won’t be coming home is the hardest part for Simmons.

“I can’t bring him back,” she said. “They said Daddy will be back in 100 days. I said, ‘no it don’t work like that, I can’t bring him back.'”
