Democrat Brings Impeachment Resolution Against Trump Only to Watch It Completely Backfire

The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday rejected animpeachment resolution brought to the floor by Rep. Al Green (D-TX).

Lawmakers voted down a procedural measure that would have led to a vote on the privileged resolution, 364-58, Fox News reported.

Speaking in the House, Green said the president has “brought shame and dishonor” to the office:

“In his capacity as president of the United States, unmindful of the high duties of his high office and the dignity and proprieties thereof and of the harmony and courtesies necessary for stability within the society of the United States, Donald John Trump has, with his statements, done more than incite individuals and groups of Americans, more than insult individuals and groups of Americans. He has harmed the society of the United States. Brought shame and dishonor to the office of president of the United States.”

In response, Democratic leaders resisted Green’s call to action, insisting that more urgent matters warranted attention, namely the tax bill and the Russia investigation.

In October, Green filed articles of impeachment, but they did not get put to a vote.
